Carolyn Roark PhD – Associate Consultant

Carolyn Roark is an educator, facilitator, and editor. Previously as a professor at Baylor University, Carolyn created programming and workshops for people from every walk of life, from theatre directors to business majors and professionals to at-risk youth.
She has taught arts and entrepreneurship, writing skills, theatrical production and literary analysis among other subjects. Carolyn believes in innovative and unexpected approaches to subject matter and creative training techniques, which she believes play a vital role in every person's development as a critical thinker and lifetime learner.
Carolyn played an instrumental role in helping Baylor University develop their Arts & Business Marketing program, a collaborative initiative of the Hankamer School of Business and Department of Theatre Arts. She consulted in the development of the Hankamer School's new living and learning center for creativity and Entrepreneurship.
Carolyn is the founding editor of Ecumenica, a non-profit, academic journal of religion and theatre studies, She has also written multiple articles on diverse subjects including creative pedagogy, puppetry, Chilean theatre, religion and performance, and theatre for community-building.
Carolyn holds a PhD in theatre history, theory and literary criticism from the University of Texas at Austin. She lives in Waco, Texas with her husband Gregory Ryan, where they are honing their skills at making their own fun. She can also make a chicken out of a towel.
